We recommend a child's first dental cleaning to be around age 3.
However, the first introduction to the dental office can be much earlier. Your child is welcome to come in at a parent or sibling appointment for a chair ride. This is a great way to acclimate them to the dental setting prior to an actual appointment. Just let us know ahead of time if you would like a “Chair Ride” for your child.
We never force a child at their appointment. We believe it is important to earn their trust so we try to keep things fun. We know we are setting the pattern for a lifetime of oral health. We talk to your child on their level and communicate so they understand what we are doing and what to expect. We listen to them, so we understand their concerns and can address their needs and fears. Sometimes we end up not being able to do much and that’s ok. We can wait another few months and try again.
